During a tour through the savannah of the Etosha National Park in Namibia I observed a herd of elephants gathering in a waterhole to take their daily bath. Especially the young ones could be seen having fun in the water. The mud on their skin, which protects them from sunlight and parasites, interacted with the wet shiny spots to create a fascinating play of colours, which inspired me to create this painting.
